Well, a judge has extended the bidding deadline until April 21st, to give other companies besides Tim Horton's time to place bids. http://www.turnto10.com/news/2934164/detail.html has some details, as does http://www.projo.com/digitalbulletin/content/projo-20040318-besse.9ae27158.html (registration may be required.)
Current quote of the proceedings: “Tim Hortons has created advantages for itself that certainly make it difficult, but not impossible, for these competitors to end up with the business,” said Judge Arthur N. Votolato. “Put simply, Tim Hortons, Bess Eaton and Mr. Gencarelli have come up with a near-perfect scenario to suit their purposes.”
Unless Dunkin's comes up with a numberical figure by the end of this month, my prediction is Horton's will be the winning bidder. Hurrah!
