2010 in brisk review.
So, let's see what's been the big news in 2010. Some folks may be behind in the news, and I've not done much posting on Livejournal of late; I seem to be fairly Twitter-focused for updates. (To note: I'm @chefmongoose there as well.)

2010 routine properly settled in the new dwelling in Norwich, CT after the hasty November 2009 move from Willimantic. The new place is very nice, and I've hosted a lot of guests. In Willimantic we had only one overnight guest (Badger Ben Rodriguez); This past year.. Amber "Scruffy" Lionflame, James "Milgrove" McCoy, M. "Everguest" Yun, W. "Tricuspa" Myers, Erika "Chillymouse" Rosengarten, and Andy "Warphammer" Oxenreider all stayed here. Wow. It's good to have company.

The shorter commute to work at Mongarikkiville[*1] at Wolfie Solar Casino[*2] has been appreciated- one of the shortest, time-wise, I've had in my life. 15 minutes of driving and about 5 of walking. I'm now the official trainer.. the only trainer they have for cooks, at that.. and I'm hoping to take the next step up the career ladder there in 2011, or seek other opportunities. My housemate (Kevin 'Slickpuppy" Mulder, for those who are that far behind) is also been working there as a prep cook, which has brought in some much-needed cash.

My 'other job' with Anthrocon has brought its share of challenges and fun, as well. 4238 attending this year, and 4800-4900 projected for 2011. This con keeps getting bigger, sheesh. I also worked security shifts at Furfright, which was.. okay. Tried to do too much in too little of time, it all felt rushed and under-relaxed. I also worked as Staff Manager at Brand New Conference in NYC, a logo/branding/design event that was very fun and helped me branch out a little in this con-career.

What else, hmm.. picked up a PlayStation 3, and have made this shift to an Android phone, techwise.Took my weight down from 270 at the start of the year to 235, a big change indeed. Feeling the difference, and slowly, slooowly shifting wardrobe to smaller clothes. XL shirts now instead of 2XL. Smaller jeans.

Meefer's up to 174,000 miles after 11-and-change years of ownership. Had to drop a good thousand-plus on repairs earlier this year, but it's been worth it.

And for 2011? .. that'll be the next post.

More and more of my friends are giving up LJ for Twitter. Unfortunately I'm an old fart...and a poor one at that...so I don't have one of those fancy smart phones and don't twitter.

I AM hoping things will get better in 2011 and Gordon and I plan to sometime in the next year or so to make a trip to see Ian in Boston...which looks to be not that far from the casino.

Well, I still do most of my twittering from my computer, thought he smart phone make it *much* nicer to do so on the go.

I'm about 2 hours out from Boston.

*twitch* I don't know what you *twitch* mean.

And I'm about 80% confident we will not exceed 4999 this year.
